Rufus Combo Selection

Recommended Posts

Rufus has a very good combo, whether at a range or in close vicinity to an enemy but there are a couple of issues with his combo in certain situations (ex. clipping through enemies and not getting the combo the player wants). As such I would like to suggest that Rufus get the ability to switch between combos via the use of the 'z' or 'x' key, seeing as Rufus is one of the few characters without the use of the 'x' key this wouldn't be an issue of key overlap. It would also reward more skilled gameplay and timing between the range combo and the melee combo.

example key input: Melee combo: z+z+z
                                   Range combo: x+x+x

Interesting idea. Can you possibly provide a couple of scenarios where this would be useful and explain it further? One of my biggest peeves with Rufus is when I want to shoot down-wards on platforms but it always decides to do the other combo, it seems random (either that or I'm just dumb).

This could be useful in situations such as Tower of destruction where Kaze'aze can summon a ball that launches the player away, where if you are slightly too close instead of performing the ranged combo, Rufus decides to catapult himself into the ball and die. It also can be useful for some enemies such as Gardosen where his thin body causes the player to sometimes clip through him. As far as combo extensions such as the up arrow key or the critical/retreat combo they would still function for both combos such as they do currently.
